Kitchen Classics: The Only Way to Cook Quinoa

Our Kitchen Classics series features staple recipes from Umahro Cadogan, The Danish “Food Doc” and Functional Medicine expert. Quinoa is a staple gluten free grain — use this simple recipe to make it and you can pair it with protein, add it to salads or even bake with it.


2-3 c cooked quinoa

Preparation Time

15-20 minutes


  • 1 c quinoa
  • 2-3 c water
  • Extra virgin olive oil

Directions for Quinoa Recipe

  1. Fry the quinoa gentle in a saucepan at lowest heat.
  2. Stir consistently for 2-3 minutes and add the water.
  3. Bring to boil and let it simmer for 12-15 minutes until the water is gone. Remember to stir so it doesn’t burn.
  4. Add some olive oil and store in the fridge for 3-4 days.
