Puori is proud to welcome triathlon athlete Jesper Svensson to our team. 28-year-old Jesper hails from Sweden and has devoted the last four years of his life to training for and competing in triathlons. The former swimmer was already used to gruelling workouts, but adding in two more disciplines — cycling and running — only further increased the demand on his body.
Jesper is a striver who competes to win, and the athlete has more than one victory under his belt. We caught up with the Swimrun World and Ironman champion to ask him about his training, recovery, lifestyle, and more. Keep reading to check it out!
A Quick Chat With Jesper Svensson
Puori: How did you find your way into triathlons/Ironman?
Jesper Svensson: Before I started to do triathlons, I was a swimmer. I liked to train more than I could sometimes in swimming. I was often tired in my body and didn’t get all the effort I put into swimming out in the races.
Later in my swimming career, I tried longer races as swim run. That fits me very well. I won my first ever swim run race that I competed in. Then, on the way, I tried triathlons because I loved the variation of the training.
Last year was my first time ever to go to the full distance, and I think I found my potential to compete against the best in the world.
P: What does a typical week look like for you?
JS: My weeks depend on the type of season I’m in. For instance, now I’m in my race season in St. Pölten. After a race, I take some time to relax and train easy.
Then, I go again for hard sessions because you’re training to race on a top level. But when I was in Mallorca for nine weeks, March to May, at a training camp, it was all about getting as much training in as possible.
In the meantime, I listen to my body to not go too deep in the tiredness.
P: What does healthy mean to you?
JS: Healthy for me is to be happy, chasing my dreams, and doing what I love to do. If I can stay injury-free and avoid sickness, I can reach almost whatever I want. The key to a healthy lifestyle is to help the body in the process.
P: What do you feel are the biggest challenges in achieving a healthy lifestyle?
JS: To make only the best decisions, and also to know what the best decisions are.
P: What achievement are you most proud of in your life?
JS: My first time ever trying a full-distance triathlon and winning that event, leading from start to finish in Ironman Brazil.
P: How did you first come across Puori?
JS: I came across Puori from a commercial on television. I got the opportunity to try it out, and I liked the product so much.
P: Why did you decide to become a Puori ambassador?
JS: I liked the products, and it’s one way to help me to make the right decisions for a healthier lifestyle.
P: Wha’s your favourite Puori product and why?
JS: M3 magnesium helps me the most in my training. I can really feel what it does for the muscles. It helps me to recover faster and keep pushing again.
P: How do maintain balance in life?
JS: I’m trying to have a balance between my goals for triathlon and also what’s healthy for me. If something goes wrong or I can’t find a way to make it better, I try to not overthink the bad emotions and just let it go and look forward toward the next chapter.
P: What role does supplementation play in your daily life?
JS: Supplementation lets me be my best me. It gives me an easier way to handle recovery.
P: What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
JS: I’m very interested in history.
P: If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
JS: Humble, kind and a different person when I do sports.
P: What book would you recommend that everyone should read?
JS: I like The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared, a history book with a lot of humour in it.
