How to prepare for the CrossFit® Games

Here at Puori, the CrossFit® Games is one of the most exciting times of our calendar. Throughout the year you’ll often find us working out at our office gym, together with our CrossFit® coach, as exercise is such an integral part of the Puori community. You may not know this, but the company’s founders Julius and Oliver met in a CrossFit® box. For that reason, CrossFit®, and of course other forms of sports and exercise, have been a fundamental part of the company’s ethos.

Each year the fitness community across the globe turns its eyes to Madison, Wisconsin, as the world’s best CrossFit® athletes compete in a gruelling four days of fitness competition, appropriately named Fittest on Earth. This year is no different, and at the Puori office, we’ll all be following how things map out. Here’s what we think are the best ways for you to prepare for the upcoming CrossFit® Games.

Get psyched!

If there’s one thing that is going to get you in the mood for the upcoming CrossFit® Games, it’s watching the astoundingly good Fittest on Earth documentaries. If you haven’t ever watched the CrossFit Games®, then this is a great place to start in order to get a feel for the four-day event.

The two documentaries follow the stories of some of the top athletes who qualified and competed in previous years’ CrossFit® Games and provides real insights into what it takes to be among the world’s best athletes, from their training and nutrition to keep themselves composed on the competition floor. Viewing the documentaries will help you appreciate the commitment and dedication to the sport of fitness that the best in the world have to have.

Hit the gym

What better time to hit the gym than during the CrossFit® Games season? In the lead up to the upcoming Games you can try last year’s workouts – don’t forget to scale them to make them suitable for your fitness level – remember the CrossFit® Games are the best athletes in the world! All the workouts from last year are available online for free here.

If you’re not going to Madison this year in between watching the event coverage of the Games, you can do the same workouts that your favourite athletes will be involved in on the competition floor.

Ensure your social media is locked in

Make sure you’re following @laurenfisher, a seven-times CrossFit® Games athlete and Puori ambassador, who will be competing this year as part of Team Invictus. Lauren is one of the hardest working athletes in the world, and we’re very excited to watch her compete as part of the team this year.

If you’re not able to make it to the Games this year, our social media manager here at Puori will be following the action live from Madison, so be sure to follow @puorilife on Instagram to see live updates of all of the big news from the Games.

Meet us in Madison

If you’re lucky enough to be at the CrossFit Games® this year in Madison, don’t forget to stop by the Puori booth at the vendor’s village. We’ll have exclusive deals and bundles on our favourite products, as well as meet and greets with our brilliant ambassadors.

Also, take note that Ben Smith, 2015 Fittest man on Earth and ten-time CrossFit® Games athlete, will be at our booth at the Games. You will be able to talk with Ben about all things fitness.

Organize a Party

If you’re part of the CrossFit® community, you’ll know what an exciting time of the year the Games are. It’s a perfect opportunity to get together with friends and gym buddies to watch the action as it unfolds in Madison. If you’re not going to be there at the Games this year, put together some great nutrient-packed food or have a barbecue and enjoy spending time with your friends and family.

We hope you enjoy the 2019 CrossFit® Games as much as we will.
